These arms were
assumed on 30th
June 2007 upon
the armiger’s
retirement after
over twenty
years of
distinguished
service to God
and Country.
The Gules of the
first and fourth
quarters was
chosen to
signify military
strength; the
Azure for
loyalty to
country and
purpose. The
Sable of the
cannonballs
(gunstones in
heraldic blazon)
represents
constancy and
grief for lost
brothers and
sisters; there
being six in
number which
honours the
battalion call
sign of “Six
Renegades”.
During his long
service, the
armiger was
assigned to the
protection of
the President of
the United
States and the
defence of the
NCR (National
Capital Region),
defence of
Baghdad and
other cities in
other countries;
the lion
represents the
dauntless
courage,
bravery,
strength,
ferocity and
valour for which
the armiger was
awarded the
Meritorious
Service Medal
citing the
action of saving
eleven lives in
combat
operations in
Abu-Graib in
2004.
The axe
represents over
twenty plus
years of service
to country as a
devoted soldier,
serving on
multiple
campaigns and
combat tours;
the cannon
balls, as well
as alluding to
the battalion
call sign, also
represent having
endured multiple
encounters with
artillery and
emerging alive;
the sheaf of
wheat represents
the harvest of
one's hopes
having been
secured with the
propagation of
future
generations. The
armoured arm
which envelopes
the whole
achievement
represents
qualities of
leadership.
The armiger
chose to have
the mantling
depicted in
Azure and
Argent, the
colours of
heraldic Vair
which represents
the fur of a
squirrel.
The motto, Ut
Sciant Pacem
Colimus, may be
paraphrased as
We serve so that
other will know
peace.
