Dr. David Willien, Earl of Erroll, Baron of Tulloch

Registered: The International Register of Arms, 26th April 2025. Registration No. 0728 (Vol.4). (Lordship & Barony Register)

Arms: Azure, a sword palewise Proper hilted and pommelled Or the pommel charged with a cross Sable, surmounted of two chevronels engrailed, in chief two fleur-de-lis of the Second.

Atop the shield the coronet of a Count and helm befitting his degree, with mantling Azure doubled Or.

Crest: Upon a wreath of the liveries a lion sejant and winged Or its dexter claw resting on an open bible Proper, the binding and fore edges Gules with two open clasps on the dexter side Or.

Supporters: A pair of lions combatant Or armed of the Same.

Motto: Invia Virtuti Nulla Est Via.

The arms of Dr. David

Grant: The Chief Herald of Arms of Malta: 30th December 2024; Registration number G0122/2024.

The Chief Herald of Arms of Malta determined that the arms be those granted to the armiger by The Lord Lyon King of Arms in Scotland, on 10th February 2020 (Vol. 94/page 46), suitably augmented, to reflect his status as an Earl (Count).

Certification: Chronicler of Arms of Castilla and León, H.E. Don Alfonso de Ceballos-Escalera y Gila, Marquis de La Floresta, 24th March 2025 No. 7/2025. The arms as set out in the Spanish Certification are those determined by the Chief Herald of Arms of Malta, including the coronet of a count and supporters.

By Certificate recorded in the Land Register of Scotland of date November 15, 2018 the armiger is infeft in All and Whole the lands known as Brick House Land, said lands including the caput of the barony of Tulloch. The Barony of Tulloch is registered in the Scottish Barony Register of date 20th January 2017 (Volume 3, Folios 115-116).

Having previously matriculated Arms in the Court of the Lord Lyon King of Arms, with all the additaments appropriate to him as the Baron of Tulloch in the Baronage of Scotland. Dr Willien is now the Earl of Erroll  whose interest in the earldom is registered in the Scottish Barony Register dated  22 December 2021 (Volume 5 Folio 66). The armiger was born at Saint Louis, Haut-Rhin, France, educated at the University of Fribourg (Licencia Docendi), and University of Lorraine (Doctor of Theology), Auditor of L’Institut des Hautes Études de Défense Nationale (IHEDN), Member of L’Academie des Sciences, Belles Lettres et Arts d’Angers, Member of the Convention of the Baronage of Scotland, Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, Member of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.

The armiger has a number of entries in The Gazette along with entries as Earl and Baron in Burke’s Peerage and Debrett’s.
