The Arms of Paul
                                                Lee Shell II

The arms were designed by the armiger. The escallops are a cant on the armiger's surname of Shell and the boar's heads are a cant on the armiger's mother's surname of Ham. The cross is representative of their Christian faith. The lion represents the armiger, whose birth sign is a Leo. The martlet held by the lion of the crest has two meanings to the armiger (almost a double pun): It primarily represents the name of Martin which was the surname of the armiger's biological paternal grandfather. Its secondary purpose is to illustrate the fact that the armiger will not inherit the surname of Martin. A martlet traditionally serves, as a mark of cadency, to represent a fourth son who will not inherit any of the estate of the father, however, in this case it is not used as a mark of cadency but is used instead to show that the armiger will not inherit the surname of Martin.

The motto, Arma Firmant Pacem, means arms strengthen peace.
