The crossed keys
denote the Armiger’s
patron Saint of Peter
and the lion’s head is
reminiscent of the arms
used on the United
States Navy vessels that
bear the name of Preble.
The design of the crest
(not illustrated) shows
the wings of an angel
and the Scottish Thistle
plant. The wings are
representative of the
Armiger’s Christian name
of Michael (Michael the
Archangel) and the
Scottish Thistle is in
honour of the armiger’s
Scottish heritage.
The heraldic banner of
Preble repeats the
contents of the shield.
The Ecclesiastical arms
are in the correct
tradition of a Priest in
the Orthodox Church,
using the shield from
the family arms and
surrounding it with the
mantle of a Priest and
toped off with the
kamilavkion of Prezbyter
- his rank in the
Clergy.
