The
cross crosslet
represents the four-fold
mystery of the Gospel:
the Incarnation, the
Crucifixion, the
Resurrection and the
Ascension. When placed
in saltire it is called
the Missionary Cross or
St. Julian's cross and
cants the armiger's
surname. The three
pheons represents the
armiger's three sons
(Theodore, Benjamin and
Henry) and alludes to
Psalm 127:3-5 which
describes children as
God's best gift, like a
quiver full of arrows.
The fleur-de-lis in the
base represents the
armiger's daughter,
Lily.
The crest of St. King
Edward the Confessor was
the suggestion of the
armiger's son, Benjamin,
and represents our love
for God and England. The
motto, Deo Adiuvante
(With God's Help)
describes how we do all
things.
The
armiger is also a member
of The Fellowship of the
White Shield and
Military and Hospitaller
Order of St. Lazarus of
Jerusalem (AChLJ).
Arms
and Knight painted by
Andrew Stewart Jamieson.
