The Arms of Richard
                                                Alan Diefenbach

The symbols and colours chosen in the arms reflect the armiger’s American and German heritage. The eagle in chief represents freedom in both the political and spiritual realms and is in a field of red as a reminder that freedom sometimes requires the shedding of blood. The chevron of the field along with the blue chevron mounted upon it are both inverted, thus providing a veiled reference to the meaning of the armiger’s German surname: Diefenbach means “Deep Brook” in German.

The three black stars in base note that the armiger is a third son while the four lesser gold stars in the chevron indicate that the armiger’s wife is the fourth daughter in her family.

The crest of a silver triquetra (Celtic Trinity Knot) with the gold interlacing circle reflects Mr. Diefenbach’s Christian background whilst at the same time lending a nod to his maternal Irish ancestry.

The Motto "Veritas vos liberabit," (Latin) is a variant of Veritas liberabit vos (Greek) meaning the truth shall set you free and is derived from the Gospel of John 8:32.

Descendants of the armiger eligible to bear these arms include: Elizabeth Ann Diefenbach (ACH No. 3801); and, Benjamin Richard Diefenbach (ACH No. 3802).
