The
armiger’s immediate
ancestors came from
mainland China and
crossed the sea to
Taiwan.
The armiger is a
Bachelor of Education
and a Master of
Sociology of Education
(Taiwan) and has also
studied in Canada. He
has worked as a school
teacher and assistant
professor in elementary
schools and universities
and is currently a PhD
candidate. He is the
founder of a company and
director of a corporate
association. During his
military service, he was
a grassroots officer in
the Taiwan military.
The crest of a Chinese
dragon holding a sword
and pearl illustrates
the armiger’s Chinese
ancestors and is also a
tribute to his mother
whose birth sign is the
dragon symbolising a
tough and fearless
nature. The Chinese
dragon takes the colour
of the traditional
Chinese dragon with the
green also representing
the island woodlands of
his country of domicile
thus representing the
armiger’s roots in China
and Taiwan. The sword is
seen as both the
commander's sword,
representing military
service, and the "sword
of truth". In Europe,
universities including
the Netherlands still
have a tradition of
presenting swords to
doctoral students. "Use
the sword in your hands
to defend the truth that
you believe in". This
echoes the armiger’s
academic achievements
and his insistence and
pursuit of world truth.
The waves of the sea act
as a pedestal to present
this dragon as a
creature of the sea. The
billowing of the sea
symbolizes the common
imprint of life and that
the armiger’s ancestors
crossed the sea to seek
advancement.
The fess wavy of blue
and white represents two
important parts of life
– experience and value
and belief; it also
symbolizes the ocean,
the waves and the
freedom. It serves as a
separation between the
green and gold of the
shield and represents
the Taiwan Strait lying
between the coast of
China's Fukien province
and the island of
Taiwan.
The green of the shield
symbolizes the island's
green colour and echoes
that of the Green
Dragon. The two
“exhibitions Books”
represent "academia",
"teaching", "truth" and
"wisdom". They can also
be interpreted as
meaning "education" and
"sociology", which is
the armiger’s
professional discipline.
The red rose represents
a love of education and
love, loyalty and faith
to the armiger's loved
ones.
The golden colour on the
shield is a symbol of
ancestral glory. Green
is the colour of Taiwan,
and the red, blue and
white in the design are
also an extension of the
Taiwanese flag.
The "motto" connects the
armiger to his family
and his ancestry. Glory
does not appear out of
thin air. Religion and
faith always coexist
with glory.
