The
Much Hon.
William Jolly
is Baron
of Stobo in
the county of
Peeblesshire,
Scotland; the
caput of the
barony being
Stobo Castle.
Originally
created for
the 4th Earl
of Morton in
1577, the
barony is
registered in
the name of
the armiger in
the Scottish
Barony
Register
(3/104-107,
4th October
2016). The
armiger was
admitted to
the Convention
of the
Baronage of
Scotland in
November 2019.
The
armiger's son,
Henry
FitzJoly, is
heir apparent
to the barony
as well as
Baron Baillie
of Stobo.

The
motto Beatus
Ille
derives from
the opening
line of
Horace’s
Second Epode:
“Happy he who
… tills his
ancestral
acre”. It is a
motto that
applies across
all the
Baron's
heraldry in
Scotland,
England and
Malta.
The
Stobo Tartan (Scottish Register of Tartans Reg. No. 13335)
is registered
in the name of
Henry FitzJoly
and reserved
for ceremonial
use by Henry
FitzJoly, his
family and
supporters.

Anderson, the
sett
incorporates
colours from
Henry
FitzJoly's
personal arms
and those of
his father. As
members of the
Morton of
Douglas sept,
Barons of
