The Arms of James
                                                R.G. Devlin, Lord of
                                                Cowal

The armiger holds the Lordship of Cowal, a Scottish feudal dignity, described as the Lordship of Cowal, in the County of Argyll being of the genus barony; the armiger is therefore referred to as Lord of Cowal.

The arms are those of the registrant's father Godfrey Devlin, Baron of Gogar, debruised of a three-point label Gules per the guidance provided by the Lyon Clerk, as befitting an heir and first son's use and entitlement to a father's arms. Being the holder of a Scottish Lordship in his own right, the armiger uses a helm befitting his degree; that of a Scottish baron.

Consistent with the rules of Scottish Heraldry the arms are based on the earliest grant of armorial bearings registered in the name of Devlin and suitably differenced. Illustratively, in this instance a key difference is the introduction of a Chief Or and the arrangement and colour of mullets. Further elements of difference are in the griffin segreant as opposed to passant.
