Crest: A salmon fessways Proper alighting thereon a sea eagle also Proper.

Guidon: Eight feet in length with rounded end having the cross of St. Andrew in the hoist, of five tracts of these liveries Argent and Azure thereon his crest vidilicet: a salmon fessways Proper alighting thereon a sea eagle also Proper, and in the fly in letters Argent this motto “ARMARTUS CUM OPPORTUNITATE” .

The pallets Azure and Argent are the traditional style of the former chiefs of Armstrong. The lion passant represents the armiger’s love of Rhodesia where he spent his formative years and saw active service. The roses are for his commitment to masonry.

The crest is a Scottish Sea Eagle which is symbolic of the armiger’s love of the sport of salmon fishing and the motto translates to "armed with opportunity".

Mungbyhurst is south of Langholm in Dumfriesshire on the east bank of the River Esk on the site of the ancient Armstrong stronghold of Mungby Tower.

By deed of resignation dated 10th March 2000 the armiger resigned the arms into the hands of the Lord Lyon for regrant with a destination to the other descendants of his father, the late Ian Joseph Simpson Armstrong.
