The Arms of Rafal
                                                Olszewski

The division of the shield into quarters refers to the coat of arms of The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth of 1569-1795 as the lineage of the Olszewski family dates back to 1700.

The colours of the shield refer to the colours of the coats of arms of the voivodeships of Silesia and Lesser Poland as the oldest place the Olszewski family came from was Grabowa, which administratively belongs to the voivodeship of Silesia and in the 18th century belonged to the voivodeship of Cracow, currently called the voivodeship of Lesser Poland.

The alder tree in the 1st and 4th quarter refers to the origin of the surname - Olszewski, i.e.: "living among alders ". The horse in the 2nd and 3rd quarter refers to the oldest occupation of ancestors, i.e.: carter.

The defensive tower in the crest refers to the aforesaid place name, Grabowa, where a fortified tower was built in 1342. Geologically, Grabowa belongs to the Cracow-Czestochowa Upland.

The person authorized to use this coat of arms is Ryszard Olszewski (born 1960), as well as all his male and female descendants provided they keep the surname Olszewski.
