The
arms were designed to
reflect the heritage of
the armiger, John, and
his wife, Eleanor. The
Purple and Gold colours
refer to arms of the
County of Wexford,
Ireland, the birthplace
of the armiger’s wife.
The three acorns (on
each of the two oak
slips) refer to the
couple's three
daughters.
The crumbling wall
refers to the historic
ruins in the home towns
of Wexford, Ireland and
Qob Elias, Lebanon.
The Viking longboat
refers to the diaspora
and expeditionary spirit
of the Touma family and
the Viking influence on
Wexford. The longboat
similarly references
seagoing history in
Lebanon.
The green mantling
refers to the Cedar of
Lebanon and the Palm of
Saudi Arabia, where the
couple have resided for
many years.
The sextant references
Dr Touma's profession
relating to measurements
and marine studies.
The blackbird is admired
for its song and is
often seen at the family
home in Qob Elias.
The
motto, in English, is
"Faith Perseverance
Dedication" and the war
cry, in English, is
“Forward”.
