The
silver horns
represent for
the horns the
Levites, the
armiger’s
forefathers,
would blow in
the Holy
Temple.
Therein six of
the Seven
Species with
which the Land
of Israel is
blessed,
namely the
fig, the
olive, the
grapevine, the
wheat, the
date and the
barley. The
Seventh
Species, the
pomegranate,
appears thrice
above the
cornucopiæ and
these
represent,
with their
three crowns,
the Holy
Trinity.
The
colour chosen
for the
shield,
although
described
heraldically
as Azure, is
Tekhelet, a
highly valued
dye described
as either "sky
blue" or
"light blue"
that held
great
significance
in ancient
Mediterranean
civilizations
and bears a
great
religious
significance
for the people
of Israel.
