The
armiger was born in
Finland in 1958 and
graduated from Heinola
Business College in 1982
and Haaga-Helia
University of Applied
Sciences in 1998.
After Business College
the armiger started his
career in SOK City Sokos
Helsinki Department
store as deputy
department manager and
later had several
business managerial and
executive positions in
state owned Finnish Post
and Tele, PTL-Tele,
Telecom Finland,
Primatel, Sonera, and
Telia-Sonera
organizations. Those
positions also include
international businesses
with Eastern European
countries and the
Baltics. Other employers
were Suomen Hitachi,
Elisa, ISS and
Honeywell.
After
21 years of working in
the telecom and ICT
business the armiger
moved into the property
management field. He
spends his leisure time
pursuing history and
heraldry and is a member
of the Finnish Heraldry
Association. He began
designing his own
armorial bearings at the
age of 13.
The
original design for the
arms was conceived many
years ago as an emblem
to be used in the
armiger’s involvement
with the Society for
Creative Anachronism for
his alias “ John De
Ryes” and his
participation in
medieval associations
such as “Living Medieval
times in Finland” and
“SCA/Finland and
internationally”. The
associations arrange
medieval fencing shows
and exhibitions in
Finnish medieval fairs
all over the country in
summer times.
Business
related memberships are
Finnish Marketing
Association (MJD),
Finnish Caretakers Union
and HAI- Professional
Building managers of
Helsinki. Other
memberships include the
Finnish American
Society, Finn Brit,
Finnish Amateur
Astronomy Society URSA,
SCA Society of Creative
Anachronism, EKRY Living
Medieval Times
Association and
Kotojärvi Golf
Association.
The
armiger is an active
fundraiser through the
offices of the HOSJ
(Hospitaller Order of St
John of Jerusalem),
Knights Hospitaller KH,
OSJ (Order of Saint
Joachim), MM Hymnus 135
and MMM Sumeri 12.
