The armiger's family originates from the lands of the ancient Republic of Venice. In Ferrara, a branch was ascribed to the city's nobility. In 1208, Marco di Pietro was appointed Consul of Vicenza. Niccolò (1397), Francesco, and Roberto (1443) were Councillors of the same municipality; Antonio, a relative of the Bishop Prince of Trento; Francesco, a physician in 1607; Girolamo (1724), Sigismondo (1742), and another Sigismondo (1796) were Councillors of the Second Order. Other important branches spread to Reggio Emilia, Padua, Trento, Parma, and Siena, all ascribed to the nobility. Don Bernardo (1914) was parish priest of Maiolati Spontini (AN) and later Cupramontana (AN), and Alberico (1951) was mayor of Maiolati Spontini (AN). Also in the territory of Maiolati Spontini (AN), several Bishops are listed as members of the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament. There were several illustrious members of this branch. The wealthy family enjoyed the right to a private burial place with a family coat of arms.

The Vescovo family is registered in the Yearbook of Italian Nobility, Ed. XXXII, XXXIII.
