Arms: The colours and their sequence in the background allude to the Cree medicine wheel, and represent the armiger's Cree heritage. The engrailed cross and the ships are taken from the arms of the Clan Sinclair, indicating the armiger's Scottish ancestry. The ships pay particular tribute to those ancestors who immigrated from overseas and to his father who was a ship captain. They also highlight the importance of fishing in his family history. The ermine spots symbolize the fur trade, which brought his ancestors to Canada.

Crest: The raven is a feature of European and Indigenous mythologies. For the armiger, it symbolizes the coming together of the various cultural heritages that define his identity. The shamrock marks his Irish heritage. The prairie crocus is the official flower of Manitoba, his home province.

Badge: The colours repeat the symbolism of the Arms, and the raven, crocus and shamrock are taken from the Crest. The anchor highlights the importance of fishing in the history of the armiger's family.
