                                                Catini Flaibam

The shield used by Fr. Flaibam, Rodrigo Catini, Archdiocese of Campinas, Brazil, was chosen for its simplicity. The party field (divided vertically into two parts) represents the armiger’s priestly work connecting terrestrial and spiritual values.

The fleur-de-lis crowned was chosen to be a representation of Our Lady, Queen of the Apostles and the blue field represents justice, serenity and strength, which are prerequisites for the priesthood. The monogram of Christ, used by Christians since the beginnings of Christianity, symbolises the work of the priest with the teachings of Christ and his love for Maria with the gold field symbolizing justice, mercy, authority and persistence.

The pall, which, in heraldry is regarded as an honorable ordinary is widely used in ecclesiastical heraldry, and here was used to represent the Holy Trinity, as well as the three theological virtues - Faith , Hope and Charity, a paradigm adopted by Fr. Flaibam, with red serves to symbolize strength, good service, value, loyalty, joy and honour, and also the blood of the Saviour and Redeemer of the holy martyrs . The stars in pall remember the four evangelists and indicate the bearer as a door to the words of the Gospel missionary spirit to the most remote corners, where silver is used to symbolize hope, innocence, chastity, humility and eloquence, the essential attributes of priestly service.

The motto brings back memories of the words of Mary's obedience to God's will, when the angel of the annunciation informed her that she would be the Mother of the Lord. The motto is recorded on a scroll of silver, with the inscription "Magnificat anima mea Dominum", which translates to " My soul magnifies the

Lord", the emotional acceptance of God's will, so well represented in the hymn of the Virgin according to Luke 1.46. This motto is taken to represent the very essence of Fr. Flaiban’s own priestly ministry.

Fr. Rodrigo Catini Flaibam is an ecclesiastical herald and has carried out consultation and heraldic work for Brazilian prelates since 2003. At the time of the publication of this registration he was working on the implementation of the Ecclesiastical Brazilian Armorial covering the period from 1551 until the present time.
