Ashman Armorial Knight

The armiger is keen on early heraldic art, and therefore wished to keep the design of his own armorial bearings simple. The three hearts represent the armiger, his partner and his two daughters. Vert was chosen to represent joy, hope and love and Vair was chosen because of its aesthetic quality; because of his fondness for early heraldry the earliest form the armiger could find was chosen. Or was used in the design because it was thought that Argent would have become lost within the pattern of the Vair.

An owl rising was chosen for the crest because of the association with wisdom and magic. He is holding a blank shield ready for paint because the armiger is a shield maker. The choice of tinctures for the mantle and owl was left to the artist to determine those which he felt were most suited to the design.
